UNC wrestling head coach Coleman Scott announced Wednesday that the Tar Heels have added 2004 Olympic silver medalist Jamill Kelly to the staff as an assistant coach.
Kelly is a two-time World Team member and four-time U.S. National Team competitor. He arrives in Chapel Hill after having spent the last two seasons on the staff at Arizona State. In addition, Kelly has also spent time at Stanford, NC State, Cal Poly and Harvard.
From 2013-15, he was the USA Cadet World Team head coach before serving as a USA Junior World Team Coach in 2016.
“This was a no-brainer for us to bring on Jamill and include him into the Carolina Wrestling family,” Scott said. “He brings a brilliant wrestling mind as well as a unique perspective in the sport of wrestling with his background. His success on the mat speaks for itself. He’s also an elite coach and will be great to have in the room.”
