In a vote conducted by the league’s head coaches, the UNC women’s lacrosse team had five players selected Tuesday to the Preseason All-ACC team and was picked to win the league.

The Tar Heels were also recently named the top-ranked team in the country according to ILWomen and Inside Lacrosse Magazine.

Attackers Jamie Ortega and Katie Hoeg join midfielder Kerrigan Miller, defender Emma Trenchard and goalie Taylor Moreno on the Preseason All-ACC team–giving UNC five of the 17 total players selected.

Notre Dame–which is ranked No. 2 nationally–also had five players on the Preseason All-ACC team.

Syracuse, Virginia and Boston College round out the projected top five teams in the league for 2021.

UNC is scheduled to open its season at home on Saturday against James Madison.
