Fresh off a scintillating performance in UNC’s 91-87 win at Duke on Saturday, Tar Heel point guard Caleb Love was selected Monday as the ACC Freshman of the Week.

It’s the second time in the last three weeks that Love has won the award, joining teammates R.J. Davis and Day’Ron Sharpe as UNC players to claim the honor this season.

Love scored a career-high 25 points and dished out seven assists against Duke, becoming the first Tar Heel to ever post those numbers in a game against the Blue Devils.

For the week, he averaged 17 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. UNC scored a season-low 50 points in a loss to Clemson last Tuesday.

Through 18 games this season, Love has posted averages of 11.1 points and 3.3 assists per game–but has struggled to find his shot until recently.

The Tar Heels sit in fifth place in the ACC standings with a 12-6 record overall and a 7-4 mark against conference opponents.
