UNC guard R.J. Davis was selected Monday as the ACC Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week, joining teammate Day’Ron Sharpe as the second different Tar Heel to win the honor this season.
Davis scored 12 points in UNC’s win over Syracuse on Tuesday, then tied his career-high with a team-high 16 points in Saturday’s loss at Florida State.
For the season, Davis is averaging 9.2 points and 2.3 assists per game. He is also shooting just 39 percent for the season and turning the ball over an average of twice per game, areas where he made great strides this past week–shooting 9-for-17 combined across the two games and committing just one turnover.
The Tar Heels are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday night against Wake Forest.
