New UNC head men’s basketball coach Hubert Davis landed his second high school commitment for the Class of 2022 on Wednesday evening: four-star point guard Seth Trimble announced his intentions to join the Tar Heel program.
Trimble — the younger brother of former UNC guard J.P. Tokoto — hails from Menomenee Falls, Wisconsin and is ranked as the No. 54 overall player and No. 9 point guard in his class according to the 24/7 Sports composite rankings.
He stands at 6-foot-3-inches and 185 pounds and, much like his brother Tokoto, has a game built around explosive athleticism.
Trimble joins three-star center Will Shaver as the second member of UNC’s Class of 2022.
The recruiting process saw Trimble choose to continue the family legacy with Davis and the Tar Heels over other offers from Michigan, Arizona State, California and Creighton.
During his junior season at Menomenee Falls, Trimble averaged 23.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 54.6 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from three-point range.
With a good chance that sophomore point guard Caleb Love will leave UNC for the NBA following this upcoming season, there is a high probability that Trimble could step into an important role as soon as he arrives on campus.
He joins Tokoto and Joe Wolf as just the third Wisconsin high schooler to commit their talents to the Tar Heels.
UNC is currently in the process of trying to bring the program back to its previous heights under the leadership of Davis, who took over for retired Hall-of-Famer Roy Williams in April.
The Tar Heels also received great news earlier this week when junior forward Armando Bacot announced he is withdrawing his name from NBA Draft consideration and making a return to Chapel Hill, a huge development for a frontcourt which lost Garrison Brooks, Day’Ron Sharpe, Walker Kessler, Walker Miller and Sterling Manley in the offseason.
In addition to Bacot’s return, UNC also added transfers Justin McKoy and Brady Manek to help fill holes in the frontcourt.
