Just two days removed from coming off the bench to lead UNC to a 78-70 upset over No. 11 Florida State, forward Walker Kessler was selected Monday as the ACC Co-Freshman of the Week.

He becomes the fifth Tar Heel to win the award this season, joining guards Caleb Love, R.J. Davis and Kerwin Walton–as well as forward Day’Ron Sharpe.

Kessler scored a career-high 20 points against the Seminoles, while also racking up eight rebounds and four blocked shots in his 24 minutes of action.

In the Tar Heels’ loss to Marquette last Wednesday, Kessler tied what was then his career high of 10 points.

The Georgia native had a slow start to the season, but has scored in double figures in each of his last four games–the first four times he has done so all year.

Kessler shared the ACC weekly honor with Louisville forward Jae’Lyn Withers.
