UNC redshirt freshman Austin O’Connor was recognized Tuesday as the ACC Wrestler of the Week.

It’s the third time this season the the Illinois native has earned the honor, having previously won it in back-to-back weeks on Nov. 20 and Nov. 27.

O’Connor has quickly risen up the rankings in his debut season on the mat for the Tar Heels, checking in at No. 4 in the country at 149 pounds.

He had a pair of wins this past weekend as UNC defeated both Bucknell and No. 13 Pittsburgh on the road.

So far this season, O’Connor has a record of 25-3 with a 14-1 mark in dual competition.
