UNC sophomore striker Alessia Russo was named Monday to the Preseason All-ACC Women’s Soccer Team, which was decided upon by a vote of the league’s 14 head coaches.

Russo, a native of Kent, England, was a Second Team All-American performer as a freshman after scoring nine goals and dishing out two assists–with six of those goals serving as game winners.

Duke and Florida State were the only teams to place more than one player on the Preseason All-ACC roster.

The Tar Heels–who were picked to finish atop the ACC–are scheduled to begin their season on Wednesday with an exhibition game against NC State.
