For the second time this season, Chicago Bears second-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky–the former UNC standout–has been named the FedEx Air Player of the Week.
The news was announced Thursday afternoon following a fan vote which saw Trubisky defeat Los Angeles Rams’ quarterback Jared Goff as well as Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This also comes just days after the NFL recognized the Ohio native as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week–the first such honor of his career.
In a win over the Detroit Lions this past Sunday, Trubisky completed 23 of his 30 passes for 355 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also added a rushing touchdown.
The first time he was recognized as the FedEx Air Player of the Week was back in Week Four when he threw a career-high six touchdown passes in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Through nine games in 2018, the Bears are 6-3 with Trubisky in his first full year as the starter. The No. 2 overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft has thrown for 2,304 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
