The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed Friday to a two-year contract worth $12 million with former UNC star tight end Eric Ebron, who spent each of the last two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

An ankle injury ended Ebron’s season in Week 12 of 2019, but he still finished the year with 31 catches for 375 yards and three touchdowns.  In 2018, Ebron had the best season of his career with the Colts–making the Pro Bowl after tallying 66 receptions, 750 yards and a whopping 13 touchdowns.

Ebron played the first four seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions after being selected in the first round with the 10th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

With the Steelers, he will team up with receiver Ryan Switzer–who holds many of the all-time UNC receiving and punt return records.

“[Steelers coach Mike Tomlin] told me he’s been on me since I was a Tar Heel, and he’s happy to get one of the guys he wanted out of college,” Ebron told ESPN’s Josina Anderson, a Tar Heel graduate herself. “He said being a defensive coach, he knows I’m hard to game plan against, and I’m excited to come.”
