When the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team takes the field this June for a pair of friendly matches against China, four former Tar Heels will be out there sporting the red, white and blue for head coach Jill Ellis.
Ellis will choose 18 players to be on the roster for each of the two matches, with goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, midfielder Allie Long, forward Crystal Dunn and forward Tobin Heath among those on the 24-player preliminary list–all of whom played their college ball at UNC.
For Heath, a longtime national team contributor who has been sidelined with an injury, it will be her first appearance with the team since Sep. 2017.
The friendlies are scheduled to take place on June 7 in Sandy, Utah and June 12 in Cleveland.
These will be the team’s last two games before Ellis has to select 23 players for the upcoming 2018 Tournament of Nations, which will feature the U.S. against Australia, Brazil and Japan from July 26-Aug. 2.
