Cyclists will be taking to Hillsborough and Orange County roads en masse on Saturday.
The Carolina Tarwheels BikeFest will begin in Hillsborough on Saturday morning and lead cyclists through rural Orange and adjacent counties, according to a release, before ending back in Hillsborough.
The ride will start on East Margaret Lane at South Cameron Street and cyclists will be heading west.
Hillsborough Police will be briefly closing the intersection of Margaret Lane and South Churton Street beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, according to town staff, to allow for safe passage.
The riders will then head out of Hillsborough via Margaret Lane, South Occoneechee Street, Calvin Street, South Nash Street, Eno Street and out Dimmocks Mill Road.
The return trip will bring cyclists into Hillsborough on St. Mary’s Road, Cameron Avenue and East Margaret Lane.
Event organizers said the overall activity is expected to last from 6 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday with approximately 850 attendees expected.
