The Carrboro Police Department is investigating a shooting at an apartment complex that left one person severely injured Saturday morning.

A release from the department said officers arrived at the Crest at West End Apartment complex off North Carolina Highway 54 after a shooting occurred around 5:15 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found one male subject who appeared to have suffered life threatening injuries.

According to the department, the man was transported to UNC Hospital. As of the initial release, there is no further information available about the subject’s condition.

Carrboro Police said its initial assessment indicates no ongoing threat to the community, but the scene at the apartment complex is still being actively investigated.

Motorists attempting to access the Crest at West End Apartments are unable to use the West Popular Avenue entrance as the investigation continues, according to the police. Residents can use the complex’s Old Fayetteville Road entrance instead.
