**UPDATE: Carrboro Police say Karina Westerlund has been safely located.**
The Carrboro Police Department is asking for the community’s help in locating a missing teen. Karina Westerlund, 15, was last seen at her residence Friday, October 17 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Police say she was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and flannel pajama pants. She is described as standing at 5-foot-1, weighing 115 pounds and having dyed red hair.

According to police, “there is no direction or mode of travel” at this time, but Westerlund is “known to frequent numerous areas of Chapel Hill, including the West Franklin Street area.”
Anyone with information as to Westerlund’s whereabouts is asked to contact Investigator Armstrong with the Carrboro Police Department at 919-918-7417 or via email at jarmstrong@carrboronc.gov. Anyone who needs immediate assistance is asked to call 911.
