The Carrboro Police Department has charged a man in the 2023 death of Serguei Ndinga Momo, 21, due to a drug overdose. Momo was found deceased on June 27, 2023, in a residence on Westbrook Drive in Carrboro, off of North Carolina Highway 54.
Police are charging 20-year-old Jerimiah Hargrove of Selma with death by distribution and selling a schedule II controlled substance. He was arrested on Wednesday, September 4 and is currently in the Wayne County Jail under an $80,000 bond.

Police say the investigation revealed Hargrove sold a qualifying controlled substance to Momo, which was then determined as the proximate cause in his death.
Carrboro Police urge anyone who suspects someone is in an overdose state to call 911 immediately. North Carolina’s Good Samaritan Law provides protections to someone in an overdose state and the 911 caller if certain conditions are met.
