
A juvenile suspect is in custody after a domestic assault which occurred Wednesday afternoon, according to the Carrboro Police Department.
Police say officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault involving a stabbing in the Lake Hogan Farms neighborhood – located north of Homestead Road – at 2:17 p.m. Wednesday and found a victim with life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to UNC Hospital and is expected to recover. Police say witnesses provided life-saving medical intervention before officers and Orange County EMS arrived on the scene.
A secured custody order was issued for the juvenile, who was taken into custody and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill. Police say the assault is an isolated incident and that there is no current threat to the community.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Velazquez at 919-918-7413 or the Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.
