The Carrboro Police Department is attempting to locate the suspect in an overnight stabbing incident at 101 North Carolina Highway 54, which is the address of the Berkshire 54 apartment complex. Police say the incident occurred just after midnight early Friday morning and that the victim suffered life threatening injuries. The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Keila Quarles, a Carrboro resident. Police say the incident appears to be isolated, as Quarles and the victim, whose identity is not being released at this time, reportedly knew each other.

According to a release from the police department, officers responded to the scene and were able to render aid to the victim before the arrival of EMS and Carrboro Fire Rescue Department personnel. The victim was then transported to UNC Hospitals and is expected to survive, per the release.

Police say Quarles fled the scene after the assault. She has a warrant out for her arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill. Anyone who sees Quarles is asked to call 911. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Carrboro Police Department at 919-918-7397.
