The Henry Anderson III Park Tennis Courts in Carrboro will be closed until Monday, Oct. 12 for the installation of new light fixtures. The courts are located at 302 North Carolina Highway 54 West outside downtown Carrboro.
According to a release from the town, the light installation is “part of a multi-year project to upgrade athletic facility lighting to modern LED technology,” a move which seeks to improve visibility and user safety, system reliability and energy consumption. Anderson Park was chosen as a starting point for the initiative because the facility currently does not have lights.
“This addition will allow for pickleball and tennis play outside of daylight hours at our largest community park,” the town said in its release.
When the installation is complete and Anderson Park is reopened, court reservations can be made at the Town of Carrboro’s website here. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact Carrboro Facilities Administrator Emily Boykin at 919-918-7371 or at eboykin@carrboronc.gov.
