The latest Carrboro Community Survey shows a high level of satisfaction among town residents. The biennial survey, the results of which were presented to the Carrboro Town Council during its May 19 meeting, shows 96 percent of respondents rated the town as an excellent or good place to live.

In addition, 93 percent of Carrboro residents gave high ratings to the town’s quality of life, 92 percent rated it as a good place to raise children and 91 percent rated it as a welcoming and inclusive community.

“This survey tells an important story about who we are as a community,” said Carrboro Town Manager Patrice Toney. “Residents recognize the heart of Carrboro and our commitment to inclusiveness, creativity, sustainability, and community care. While we celebrate the many areas where satisfaction continues to grow, we also hear clearly the community’s call to keep investing in transportation, affordable housing, and equitable access to opportunity.”

Carrboro residents surveyed also expressed satisfaction with the town’s cultural and community amenities, such as festivals, the arts and public parks. Town services scored well, with 94 percent of respondents expressing satisfaction with fire services and 85 percent expressing satisfaction with police services. When asked to identify the most important future priorities, those surveyed identified transportation infrastructure, parks and recreation facilities and housing and community services as the top three.

According to a town release, Carrboro rated 42.7 percent higher in overall quality of town services, 41.7 higher in overall quality of life and “significantly higher” in customer service, inclusiveness and community engagement than the regional and national averages in other surveys provided by the ETC Institute, which conducted the Carrboro survey.

The Town of Carrboro reports a total of 440 residents completed the survey – exceeding the town’s goal – between February and April 2026, using both mailed and online formats. Surveys were distributed randomly.
