
Local government offices and services around the community will be closed to observe Good Friday on April 3. Here’s a rundown of what residents can expect:
Town of Chapel Hill
The Town of Chapel Hill’s government offices will be closed Friday, and some facilities will also be closed Easter Sunday, April 5.
Residential trash collection will not be affected. Crews will not collect yard trimmings on Friday and will instead collect them on the regularly scheduled day the following week. Commercial trash will not be collected on Friday, and crews will complete collections earlier in the week. Curbside recycling collection will be delayed one day to Saturday, April 4. The Orange County Waste and Recycling Centers, Landfill and Solid Waste Administrative Office will be closed Friday through Sunday.
The Chapel Hill Public Library will remain open Friday but will be closed Sunday. Chapel Hill Transit will operate Sunday schedules on Friday.

Town of Carrboro
All Town of Carrboro offices will be closed Friday. Household waste collection scheduled for Friday will be moved to Monday, April 6. For more information, click here.
Town of Hillsborough
The Town of Hillsborough’s offices will be closed Friday. Solid waste routes will not be serviced that day. Residents whose garbage is normally picked up Friday will be serviced Monday. For more information, click here.
Orange County
All Orange County administrative offices will be closed on Friday. Recycling routes normally serviced Friday will be serviced Saturday, and no recycling will be collected Sunday.
All library locations will be closed Friday and Sunday, but will operate as normal on Saturday.
Orange County Animal Services will be closed Friday and will reopen Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. OCAS will be closed Sunday as usual. It asks anyone with an animal-related emergency, such as a bite or a rabies exposure, to call 911 if the office is closed.
