The Carrboro Police Department is investigating a shooting from Saturday night along North Carolina Highway 54.
A release from the department Monday morning said at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, a male driver travelling east along NC 54 was approached by another vehicle near Jones Ferry Road. Multiple suspects in the second automobile then began shooting at the victim and his vehicle. Police said the first driver, uninjured by the shooting, then fled eastbound on NC 54 while the suspects drove off in an unknown direction.
Carrboro Police said Saturday’s incident is believed to be isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public’s safety. Monday’s release also said the department presently has no suspect information available and did not disclose any details of the vehicle driven by the suspects.
