The Carrboro Police Department announced Friday morning it identified, arrested and charged a Graham resident for gunfire during an altercation last week.
A release shared on the department’s social media said 20-year-old Lar Wah faces six counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon With an Intent to Kill from the incident on Friday, September 16. According to police, two groups of people “engaged in an argument” at the public and hotel parking deck on 370 East Main Street, with the disagreement escalating until people started physically fighting.
It was during the scrum, Carrboro Police say, that several gunshots were fired. While the department’s initial release said all of the injuries reported were solely from the physical altercation, at least one person suffered an injury from the gunfire. Police said all injuries, though, were deemed non-life-threatening.
Wah was held under a $5,000 bond at the Orange County Detention Center, according to Carrboro Police. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office’s custody report shows Wah no longer in the jail as of 11 a.m. on Friday.
In its release, the Carrboro Police Department said the investigation into September 16’s incident is ongoing. Those with information on the altercation and shooting are encouraged to contact the lead investigator at 919-918-7412. Those who may wish to remain anonymous can also use the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Crimestoppers hotline at 919-942-7515.

I’m confused by the change in story about the gunshot injuring someone or not. Do we know anything more about that? Injured how? How could you not be able to tell if an injury was from a gunshot? Who made this determination?
