Community Center Park playground off South Estes Drive, one of Chapel Hill’s most used and oldest playgrounds, is temporarily closing for repairs and improvements.
The playground will close for two weeks beginning Monday, March 19 to replace some older features on the main structure, completely replace the rubber fall surface, make drainage improvements and apply a vinyl coating to metal parts.
The closure may extend beyond two weeks if rain is experienced.
The town of Chapel Hill asks residents to please honor the closure signs during repairs and avoid using the playground during the repair period even if it appears to be ready to use, because the rubber fall surface and vinyl coating require time to cure after application.
