A Durham man has been arrested in connection with a Chapel Hill bank robbery last week.

Police records show that 28-year-old Brandon Deshon China has been charged with six felony counts and was arrested on Friday, March 16. He is charged in connection with the robbery at the SunTrust Bank on West Franklin Street last Monday.

Law enforcement officials initially requested help from the public in identifying a suspect in a photo released by authorities.

Police said at the time that the suspect “communicated with the teller to hand over the money” but did not display a weapon. The incident report says the suspect gave the bank employee a note demanding money. The report lists that the suspect got away with $505 in cash.

China has been charged with three counts of common law robbery and three counts of possession of stolen goods – all felony charges. He is being held under a $22,000 secured bond as of last update and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday.
