Chapel Hill Police are searching for a suspect involved in a bank robbery Tuesday.

Police say officers responded to a reported robbery at the PNC Bank on East Rosemary Street just after 4:45 Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say a suspect entered the bank and demanded money after a weapon was displayed. The suspect fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police. The suspect was headed toward North Street.

Police described the suspect as a black male between 50 and 60 years old, estimated to be 5’ 8” – 5’ 10” with a slender build. The suspect was reportedly wearing glasses, a black baseball cap, navy blue polo-style shirt with green and white stripes and a black jacket with a red design.

Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous and callers may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
