Chapel Hill Police are asking for help locating a suspect following a bank robbery Tuesday.
The suspect entered the State Employees’ Credit Union branch on Pittsboro Road Tuesday morning. He handed a note to the teller demanding money, according to law enforcement.
Authorities said the suspect did not display a weapon, but police asked that the public not intervene if they see the suspect and instead call 911 and report his location.
An Alert Carolina message sent to the campus community said the robbery occurred just before 11 a.m. The suspect is described as an older black male with a heavy build, roughly 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a hat at the time of the robbery.
Police said he was last seen leaving toward Pittsboro Road.
The suspect did make it away with an undetermined amount of cash.
