Orange County is altering its recycling collection schedule this week and next to accommodate Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Curbside recycling that was scheduled to be collected on Tuesday, Christmas Day, will instead be collected on Saturday, December 29. That schedule will be repeated next Tuesday when county offices are closed for New Year’s Day. Curbside recycling will instead be collected on Saturday, January 5.
Orange County Solid Waste Facilities are closed New Year’s Day and are scheduled to return to normal operations on January 2. All Waste and Recycling Centers will be closed Wednesday, in accordance with its normal schedule.
Other schedule adjustments are being made to service schedules in municipalities in Orange County. Chapel Hill and Hillsborough residents who have garbage collected on Tuesdays will be served on Wednesday, January 2. Brush collection will follow the garbage collection schedule in Hillsborough, but the yard waste calendar will not be affected in Chapel Hill. Christmas trees will be collected along with other yard waste in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. More information on Christmas tree disposal can be found here.
