Three suspects were taken into custody and an investigation is ongoing after an armed robbery in Orange County.

Officials said deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene after three suspects brandished firearms and demanded money and property from a victim at Bentley Wood Manor Apartments shortly after 8:30 Tuesday night.

Authorities said one suspect fired a shot before the three fled in a dark-colored Chrysler Sebring.

A deputy then saw the vehicle “leaving the vicinity at a high rate of speed” going toward Efland. During the subsequent traffic stop, three loaded firearms – one of which was stolen from South Carolina – were located in the vehicle, according to a release.

“He did an outstanding job. It was a dangerous, rapidly evolving situation,” Sheriff Charles Blackwood said of the arresting deputy in a release. “Corporal Tucker was able to take all three into custody without incident.”

The three suspects taken into custody were identified as Antonio Lee Garris, Devon Montel Smith and Shiheem Jermaine Robinson. Authorities said all three are from Wadesboro in Anson County, but Garris currently lives in Hillsborough.

All three have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a stolen firearm. Garris, Smith and Robinson are being held in the Orange County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. Authorities said additional charges are pending.
