Hillsborough Police have identified an individual wanted in connection with a shooting Tuesday evening.

Authorities said in an update Wednesday that police believe 24-year-old Elijah Rashad Dobson was driving the vehicle suspected to be involved in the shooting into an occupied car on South Churton Street near the intersection of Cardinal Drive around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Dobson is described as a black male, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and estimated to weigh 130 pounds.

“He frequents areas in Durham and Raleigh and should be considered armed and dangerous,” officials said. “No warrants are on file at this time.”

A victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday and was transported to a hospital for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. An infant was in the victim’s vehicle at the time of the shooting, police said, but the child was uninjured. Police initially said the child was in the custody of the Orange County Department of Social Services, but officials said Wednesday the child had been returned to its mother.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact Investigator William Felts at (919) 296-9533 or by email.
