Hillsborough Police are investigating a reported shooting Tuesday evening.

Authorities said in a release that police are seeking information about a shooting into an occupied vehicle. Officers responded around 5:30 p.m. to the shooting on South Churton Street near the intersection of Cardinal Drive.

A victim with multiple gunshot wounds was found at the scene and transported to a hospital “with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.”

An infant was in the victim’s vehicle at the time of the shooting, according to law enforcement, but was uninjured. The child is now in the custody of the Orange County Department of Social Services.

Police described the suspect vehicle as a white or tan Mercedes Benz sedan.
