A release from the department on Saturday morning said police responded to a reported armed robbery in the area of West Rosemary Street and Mitchell Lane around 8:42 p.m. A small group of women reported being approached by a young man and a young woman. According to police, the female suspect brandished a firearm and the pair robbed the victims before leaving the area on foot.

The police department’s release said around 8:53 p.m., a group of men reported being robbed on North Roberson Street in Chapel Hill, near the Hargraves Community Center. The suspects in the incident fit the description of the suspects in the first armed robbery.

The Alert Carolina system warned the UNC campus community about the robberies with an alert on Saturday morning. The message said UNC students were among the victims of the robberies and indicated another incident happened shortly after the first two. According to UNC authorities, a third robbery occurred minutes before 9 p.m. at 308 Sunset Drive, just blocks away from the prior two robberies.

Cripezzi is currently at the Orange County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond.
