The Chapel Hill Police Department arrested a man Wednesday afternoon for indecent exposure.
A release from the Town of Chapel Hill said authorities charged Anthony Covington, 55, around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday for exposing himself in public.
The town said Orange County and UNC 911 Communications received at least five calls from people on UNC’s campus and in the 400-block of East Franklin Street regarding Covington, who is from Wake County.
UNC shared an Alert Carolina emergency message to its campus community Wednesday night following the announcement of Covington’s arrest. An email version of the message said people reported issues with Covington exposing himself at the Nash Parking Lot and near Davie Hall on campus, as well as 221 Pittsboro Street, 133 West Franklin Street and 407 East Franklin Street.
The Alert Carolina said UNC Police have “trespassed the individual” from campus.
Police took Covington to the Orange County Detention Center and the Town of Chapel Hill’s release said he is being held on a $500 secured bond.
