The Carrboro Police Department alerted the community of an arrest in its investigation of a fatal stabbing on Wednesday.

A release from the town said police arrested 30-year-old Sedgwick Raynard Barnes Jr. in connection to the death of Kenneth Michael Moseley one week prior. Investigators said Barnes is charged with first degree murder and was booked in the Orange County jail on Tuesday with no bond. There was no address listed for him in Wednesday’s release.

Moseley was found around 9 p.m. at Town Commons along West Main Street on August 2 by a citizen, who called 911. Police said Moseley was taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment, but later died from his injuries. The Durham man was 50 years old. At the time, police said they believed the stabbing was an isolated incident.

Carrboro Police said its investigation into the stabbing is still active. Anyone who may have information about the incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Erasmo Velazquez with the police department at 919-918-7413. There is no additional information being made available to the public as of Wednesday, according to the police department.
