The Carrboro Police Department, as well as other local law enforcement agencies, responded to an incident of gunshots fired early Friday morning.

A release from the department said it is investigating an incident involving shots being fired from a vehicle in the area of Old Fayetteville Road. According to police, an off-duty officer heard shots shortly after 5 a.m. and notified on-duty officers. Those officers found the vehicle and began a brief pursuit. Carrboro Police said the driver was taken into custody at 103 Culbreth Road, but two other suspects then ran from the vehicle.

Police later arrested the pair of suspects in a parking lot at 500 Smith Level Road after a K-9 unit. Officers from the Chapel Hill Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the incident, according to Friday’s release.

The police department said while an investigation is still ongoing, there is no indication there are any additional suspects at large or any ongoing threat to the community.
