Authorities say a Toyota Camry was pulled over for a traffic violation on I-40 East at mile marker 157 in western Orange County. A K-9 officer with the Mebane Police Department was then called to the scene after an investigation and alerted authorities regarding the possibility of illegal drugs in the vehicle.

The marijuana seized from the search has a wholesale value of approximately $500,000, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities say 46-year-old Ruth Paez Diaz, of San Jose, California, and 26-year-old Briann Marie Diaz, of San Francisco, California, were arrested and are now facing two counts of trafficking marijuana each. Both suspects are being held under a $100,000 secured bond.
