An early morning chase and subsequent crash resulted in an arrest in connection with two attempted home break-ins in Hillsborough over the weekend.

Authorities said in a release that Hillsborough Police officers responded to a breaking and entering reported around 3 a.m. Saturday in the Cornwallis Hills neighborhood in southern Hillsborough. A second attempted breaking and entering call was dispatched to the Gatemoore neighborhood around 3:30 a.m., according to police. The suspects fired a flare gun while fleeing when they were interrupted during the second home break-in, according to a release.

The suspect vehicle was then spotted by a Hillsborough officer and a deputy from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Oakdale Drive, which is between the two neighborhoods.

The suspect then fled as authorities attempted to pull the vehicle over and crashed near the intersection of Churton and Corbin streets. The driver and a passenger fled on foot following the crash and one of the suspects was located and taken into custody.

Authorities say 22-year-old Noah Rochon Harris, of Durham, was arrested and is facing several charges, including felony fleeing to elude, carrying of a concealed weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and first-degree arson, among others.

Law enforcement officials are investigating three vehicle break-ins in addition to the residential breaking and entering incidents that “may be related.” Additional charges are possible.

Harris was being held in the Orange County jail under a $250,000 secured bond on the charges related to the weekend incidents in Hillsborough as of last update.
