After acquiring one former UNC standout–wide receiver Ryan Switzer–in a trade during the recent NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders have now made the decision to let another former Tar Heel go.

Running back Elijah Hood was among three players waived by the Raiders on Monday, joining defensive lineman Joby Saint Fleur and fullback Nick Sharga.

The Charlotte native was a seventh-round draft choice by Oakland in 2017, but played in just one regular season game as a rookie–failing to receive a single carry once the preseason ended.

As a Tar Heel, Hood ran for 2,580 yards and 29 touchdowns while averaging six yards per carry. His powerful running style excited fans in Kenan Stadium for all three years he was on campus.

The 1,463 yards he ran for as a sophomore remains the second-highest single-season rushing total in UNC history.
