Perch Coworking Studios, a free-flowing, locally-owned office space, is reopening in Carrboro. The space had been closed since August of 2020 due to the pandemic. In addition, Perch will be taking over a new location at 601 West Main Street, Suite A.

“Ever since we closed, we had periodically been doing happy hour and virtual yoga. And, I knew there was interest in us opening up again,” Perch manager Betsey Elbogen told Chapelboro. “The issue was where. It is very hard to find an affordable space in the area. It can’t feel ‘officey.'”

Perch also has a space in Pittsboro, located at 102 Hillsboro Street, which did not close during the pandemic. According to its website, Perch “allows our members a place to collaborate, be productive, and form friendships.”

“We had a great community before COVID and everyone was pretty devastated when we had to close,” Elbogen said. “And, again, we have kept in touch with some of the old members. And, we were constantly  being asked if we would open up another space in Carrboro.

“I think people want to get out of the house. They want to reclaim their home. It is better for their mental health.”

Perch’s website and its LinkedIn page list February 1 as its reopening date.
