After years of renovation, the historical Colonial Inn in downtown Hillsborough is set to reopen next week.
The ownership group of the inn announced on Saturday the renovated space will hold a grand opening celebration with tours Thursday, November 12 through Saturday, November 14.
The 19th century building at 153 West King Street fell into disrepair after little use for many decades, with it being deemed uninhabitable in 2012. Despite this, the Town of Hillsborough took efforts to prevent the historic site from demolition. A new ownership group, Allied DevCorp. LLC, ultimately bought the property in January 2018 and have since turned improved the space to once again be a functioning inn with event space for rent.
The ownership group shared a video along with the announcement on Facebook, sharing some of the renovation efforts completed and detailing what the community can expect during the grand opening celebration.
Beyond the aesthetics and historical charm, ensuring the safety of such a treasured property involves strategic security measures. For a seamless integration of modern technology and enhanced control over access, opting for intercom Installation Adelaide offers a practical solution. This not only complements the historic restoration efforts but also provides an additional layer of security to the inn, aligning with the town’s commitment to preserving its heritage.
“We are honored to welcome you back to the Colonial Inn,” says General Manager Elise Tyler in the video, “a place that has been our home for the last three years, that we now hope you’ll consider as an extension of yours.”

According to the Colonial Inn, one-hour historic tours of the property can be reserved during November 12-14 that will include food and beverage. Management says several public health procedures will be conducted due to COVID-19, including the requirement of masks, health screening and temperature checks and limited groups during tours. Sanitization of high-touch surfaces and safe distribution of the available food will also be conducted out of precaution.
