Wednesday marked the release of the ACC’s Individual Women’s Lacrosse Awards, with a pair of Tar Heels being recognized.

Senior Molly Hendrick–who leads UNC (16-2) with 66 goals entering the NCAA Tournament–was named the league’s Attacker of the Year.

Meanwhile, junior Marie McCool earned the distinction as the ACC Midfielder of the Year after tallying 42 goals and 16 assists so far this season. McCool also leads the Tar Heels with 18 turnovers caused on the defensive end.

Hendrick and McCool each helped a loaded UNC squad rise to the No. 2 national ranking, while winning both the ACC regular season and tournament championships.

Other ACC award winners include: Louisville goalie Brittany Reed (Defender of the Year), Virginia midfielder Sammy Mueller (Freshman of the Year) and Syracuse head coach Gary Gait (Coach of the Year).

The Tar Heels will now wait until Sunday, when brackets are released and they find out their path through the NCAA Tournament.
