CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina has filled its coaching staff by hiring Keith Heckendorf to coach quarterbacks and Larry Porter to coach running backs.

The school announced the hirings late Monday night.

Heckendorf spent the past three seasons at North Carolina and was a player development assistant. He had been hired last month by new Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson, who left the Tar Heels’ staff after the 2013 season.

Porter is a former head coach at Memphis who spent the past season at Texas and also coached running backs at Arizona State.

Coach Larry Fedora says Heckendorf has been “a key member of this program since we got here” and calls Porter “a coach who I’ve admired for a long time.”
