This week, join 97.9 The Hill’s Ali Evans for a conversation with Erica Starke-Knight — creator and producer of UNC-TV’s GIRL Power campaign!

“So my boss, Joy Potts, who is the director of children’s media and education services, we were talking about a book that had just come out: ‘Strong Is The New Pretty,'” said Starke-Knight. “And we had the idea that we needed to find a way to lift up young girls, especially in this climate where there’s a lot of bullying at school and body shaming and you know, image issues with magazines and what you see, you know, on TV and in music videos. And we wanted to find a way to uplift and empower young girls.”

The GIRL Power campaign is a program meant to shine a light on girls of all ages and encourage leadership and mentorship while inspiring girls to impact the world around them by tapping into their unique strengths and embracing what makes them special.

Listen below for the full conversation between Ali and Erica, and check back next Wednesday for another introduction to some of the most amazing women in our community!
