The Orange County Historical Museum in Hillsborough is airing several documentaries about local music legends. Tickets are $10.00.
- Friday, June 8 – Local music legend Elizabeth Cotten. Film begins at 7:00pm.
- Friday, June 20 – Local music legend Doug Clark, featuring the last recorded interview with Clark before his death in 2002. Film begins at 7:00pm.
- Friday, August 10 – Local music legend and big band leader Kay Kyser. Film begins at 7:00pm.
Orange County Animal Services is holding its annual open house Saturday, June 2, from noon to 4 pm at the facility on Eubanks Road. Come out for tours, family activities, free food, pet adoption specials, a visit from Rameses, and more!
Sunday, June 3, head to Southern Village for PORCHFest, an event of food and live music to raise money for the hunger relief organization PORCH! 5-8 pm, with music from Too Much Fun beginning at 6:00 and food from Al’s Burgers, Maple View Farms, Pazzo, Carolina Brewery and more. Saturday, May 19, Voices, the Chapel Hill Community Chorus, is performing a concert at 7:30 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on East Rosemary Street. The concert is called “Flights of Fancy,” featuring new music by Jeremy Jennings…it’s also a sendoff concert for longtime music director Sue Klausmeyer, who’s stepping down after 18 years. Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, Orange County is holding a remembrance event at the future Orange County Veterans Memorial near the Southern Human Services Center on Homestead Road. The event begins at 8 am with the raising of the colors and concludes at 8:30. Memorial Day events continue at 10 am at the American Legion Post on Legion Road; there will be an open house, lunch, and a concert by the Village Band at 12:30.
