This week’s Hometown Hero is Mark Marcoplos, an Orange County Commissioner who is concerned about the environment and other issues surrounding our community. He has advocated for solid waste reduction and works to help young people get involved in vocational trades.

“I’m a builder as well as a County Commissioner and I struggle to find employees. I tell young people whenever I can that if they work with me for a summer, they can make $15 to $20 an hour the next year. It’s a great opportunity, an untapped opportunity. And beyond that, even if you decide to work in the trades for a few years, you can go do something else and then when you own your own home, you can actually fix it.”
