The Town of Carrboro announced the initial recipients of funding from its Emergency Loans and Grant Fund, all of which are local small businesses.
The town shared the release on Wednesday, revealing the initial 12 Carrboro-based businesses that have been either fully or conditionally approved to receive emergency fundings. The list includes businesses like Grow Your World, Open Eye Cafe and Craftboro Brewing Depot, and is the result of a review committee that selected applicants without knowing their identities.
Carrboro created the Emergency Loans and Grant Fund in March, after altering the existing Small Business and Non-profit Emergency Fund to allow businesses to apply amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The loans given out will have seven-year repayment terms and meant to assist businesses pay short-term payroll.
Of the combined $475,000 available in the fund, roughly $235,000 remains, according to the town’s release. Upon approval of these 12 businesses, the COVID-19 Loan/Grant Review Committee created a resolution for the Carrboro Town Council to authorize a second round of loans.
According to the town, the full list of businesses to be awarded initial emergency is:

– Art In a Pickle/Neal’s Deli
– Craftboro Brewing Depot
– O & E Enterprises Inc.
– Open Eye Cafe
– Ceremony Salon
– Carrboro Coffee Company
– Weaver Street Realty
– Van Hook/Willow Creek Laundromat
– F & F Car Care
– Dispute Settlement Center
