Welcome to Woman Crush Wednesday!
This week, join 97.9 The Hill’s Ali Evans for a conversation with Belinda Lashae, a Certified Nurse-Midwife at the Women’s Birth & Wellness Center, the area’s only freestanding birth center. Belinda provides full scope women’s healthcare including catching babies and well woman care. She is the President of the NC Midwives Alliance, which is the unity organization for all midwives in North Carolina.
Belinda is a support system for women before, during and after birth. “I’ve been helping new life into the world for over 20 years, and it’s something new every single time.” Belinda’s favorite part of her job? “Watching women find their power and their strength.”
The World Health Organization has declared 2020 the Year of the Nurse & the Midwife, which Belinda calls “a very exciting honor!” NC MERA (North Carolina Midwifery Education, Regulation, and Association) was planning to celebrate the honor at their annual NC Walk for Midwives on May 2nd, but due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the walk has been postponed. To learn more about NC MERA and read about the annual walk, visit www.ncmera.org.
You can listen to Ali and Belinda’s full conversation below and check back next Wednesday for another introduction to some of the most amazing women in our community!
