This season the Carolina women’s basketball team will look to reach back-to-back NCAA tournaments for the first time since 2015. That challenge will begin with the team’s non-conference schedule, which was released Tuesday.

The slate includes six games in Carmichael Arena, as well as true road games against Charlotte, TCU and Minnesota. North Carolina A&T will visit Chapel Hill on Tuesday, November 9 to open the season. The schedule also features in-state clashes with Appalachian State and UNC Asheville.
The Tar Heels will travel to the Bahamas over the Thanksgiving holiday to participate in the Goombay Splash tournament, where Carolina will face VCU and Washington.
“Our non-conference schedule was created in an effort to challenge us against teams from all across the country, versus a variety of styles of plays, and doing so in unique environments before getting into the gauntlet of the ACC,” said head coach Courtney Banghart. “We will match up against opponents from the Pac-12, the Big 12, the Big Ten, and the ACC, in addition to playing some of the best programs in our region. Coming off a COVID year without fans, we are all very eager to return to the energy of our fans in Carmichael.”
