The UNC women’s basketball program announced its full regular season schedule for the 2021-22 season in a special on the ACC Network Wednesday night.
The program had previously revealed its non-conference slate in August, but now Carolina fans have a complete look at what head coach Courtney Banghart’s team will be going up against in Banghart’s third year on the job.
The Tar Heels open ACC play on Sunday, December 19 at Boston College, while their home ACC opener isn’t until Thursday, December 30 against Syracuse. Carolina will face three teams that finished the 2020-21 season ranked in the final coaches poll: No. 6 Louisville, No. 17 Georgia Tech and No. 7 NC State, who the Tar Heels play twice. UNC has earned season splits against the Wolfpack in the last three seasons, with each of Carolina’s wins coming when NC State was ranked in the Top 10.
Notable other road trips for Carolina include visiting two-time NCAA champions Notre Dame on Sunday, January 16, and Florida State on Sunday, February 20. For a complete look at UNC’s schedule, click here.
The Tar Heels are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance in the 2020-21 season, and also bring in a highly-regarded recruiting class that is ranked No. 3 in the country by ESPN. Carolina officially opens its season Tuesday, November 9 in Chapel Hill against North Carolina A&T, but fans eager to get a preview of the season can do so at UNC basketball’s annual “Late Night” event in the Dean Smith Center, which is scheduled for October 15 at 7:30 p.m.
