The UNC women’s basketball program has added two more games to its non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season. The Tar Heels will face Texas Tech and Alabama as part of the WBCA Showcase in Orlando this November.
The two games will be played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World. Carolina will face Texas Tech Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. and Alabama Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. TV information will be announced at a later date.
The meeting with Texas Tech will be the first ever between the two programs, while Tar Heels and Crimson Tide have met 11 previous times. Alabama has won the last two meetings, including a first-round game in the 2021 NCAA Tournament which ended Banghart’s first season with UNC.
Alabama finished the 2025-26 season at 24-11 overall after starting 13-0. The Crimson Tide earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament and lost to No. 3 Louisville in the second round. Texas Tech also reached the tournament’s second round, earning a place in the field for the first time since 2013. The Lady Raiders won their first 19 games, reached as high as No. 16 in the AP Poll and earned a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, falling to No. 2 LSU in the second round.
The two games add to what will likely be another challenging non-conference slate for UNC. Carolina is already scheduled to face Oklahoma in Paris as part of the international “Oui Play” event Nov. 2 and will return to the United States to face perennial powerhouse South Carolina in Charlotte in the Ally Tipoff. In addition, the Tar Heels are set to host LSU as part of the ACC-SEC Challenge Dec. 2.
