Playing a Miami squad down to just five players due to COVID-19 issues on Sunday in Chapel Hill, the top-ranked UNC women’s tennis team cruised to an easy 7-0 victory.
With fans in attendance at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center for the first time in nearly a year, the Tar Heels made quick work of Miami to improve to 12-0 this season and clinch the program’s 30th consecutive victory overall.
After clinching the doubles point, UNC received singles victories from Elizabeth Scotty (6-1, 6-1), Makenna Jones (6-3, 6-2) and Fiona Crawley (6-0, 6-4) to seal up the team win.
The Tar Heels also won each of the two other singles matches, while Anika Yarlagaada was gifted a victory by walkover due to Miami’s limited roster.
Miami fell to 3-4 overall with the loss and 1-2 inside the ACC.
